Hawaii New Tax System Modernization for Fuel, Liquor, and Tobacco

Hawaii is in the process of rolling out new Tax System Modernization (TSM) project.  With the TSM, there will be some changes to tobacco, fuel, and alcohol tax forms.  

One of the changes will be the Hawaii Taxpayer Identification Number.  Currently, the number is in the format W12345678-01.  The new format is AA-123-456-7890-SS.  AA are two characters that represent the account type (GE, TA, RV…).  SS is the sequence number of the account type.  For example, if a taxpayer has 2 general excise tax licenses the first one is 01 and the second one is 02.

These changes will apply to Fuel, Liquor, and Tobacco excise and sales taxes.
